Walk-aways and the story of one pigeon
Passenger Pigeon
Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia

Fall 2011, MFA charrette project
Passenger Pigeon was a charrette project which aimed at developing a new exhibition about pigeons at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. The exhibition was broken into three parts: special characteristics of the Passenger Pigeon (biology), the story of its extinction and conservation. My team and I created the area outside of the museum for programming events which included spoken word. Inside the museum we decided to visually tell the story of Passenger Pigeon extinction by suspending many paper folded pigeons from the ceiling in a way that the visitor can follow them from the ground floor up to the second and the third. The amount of paper pigeons decreased to the end of the exhibition symbolizing their extinction.
