Meanwhile

Winter 2013 - Fall 2014, start up project

Meanwhile was a collaborative start up project initiated with an idea of my colleague Meghann Hickson to create a museum. The idea was being discussed among several of our MFA colleagues untill we finally formed a group of five enthusiasts who wanted to enhance the museum experience. Unfortunatly in 2014 the project stopped due to relocation of all of the team members, however, the work together was fruitful. We have developed the concept, built the partnership with the Rosenbach Library in Philadelphia which owned the collection we were working with. We also took part in the Lean Start Up Machine intense workshop to validate our business idea; lead two fundraising events and created our first prototypes.

Here is a piece from our press release:

Project Meanwhile (PMW) is an experimental design collective working at the intersection of museum exhibition, theatrical experience, and social nightlife to create a new pathway for visitors to connect with Philadelphia’s extraordinary museums, collections and their hidden stories. Our vision is to create a theatrical, thought-provoking social experience that will supplement a local museum collection in a pop-up location.

We built our prototype exhibition on the story of Shakespeare forgeries by William Henry Ireland. The concept and narrative of the exhibit were intersecting the father-son relationships and the real and the fake creating a room for visitors to make their own discoveries and walk-aways.
