Lithograph Nommee Caprise "L`entrée de Zarsko-Celo"

Moscow, 1820

The lithograph became another project of my BA thesis. Here I practiced a different technique of working with conservation of single image unlike the whole book. This lithograph was particularly interesting, because it was restored before in a very rough technique. I had to remove the previous restoration and apply new, gently methods which would keep the lithograph more flexible. There were also some foxings and water damages which were washed away during the procedure of increasing the PH level.

The author of this lithograph was Martinov Andrej Efimovich (1768-1826) – painter, engraver and lithographer. This lithograph was received after the death of Synyagin N.K. from his private collection of prints. Synyagin N. K. (1874 – 1912) was a merchant, bibliographer, bibliophile and collector. He invested into forming the library and collecting. His library contained around 20 000 books: russian and foreign publications, memoirs, children literature of the 17th and beginning of the 19th centuries. The print itself was in a good condition, however, the document was dirty and had leakage almost over the whole sheet.
